Behnke Lecture Video Available
On May 2, Stephanie Fleming, Vice President of Behnke Nurseries (and granddaughter of the founders) gave a Greenbelt Museum lecture about the history of the beloved local institution, which closed its gates this past weekend after 89 years.
It is now available to watch above or on the City of Greenbelt's YouTube channel. Stay tuned for information about a screening of the lecture in the late Summer.
https://casinonon-aams.com was on my screen when I read that the lecture is now on YouTube, which is handy since I missed the live event entirely. The bit about Behnke lasting 89 years under one family is what really struck me, since most garden centers I grew up with disappeared within a decade or two. I'm hoping the summer screening happens, because hearing Fleming talk about the nursery in her own words feels different from just reading a timeline.
