In celebration of Black History Month, the Greenbelt Museum was pleased to present Martha M. Williams and Nate Cody who discussed the history of Norfolk Botanical Garden, Virginia’s largest garden. We learned how through Franklin D. Roosevelt’s WPA program, 200 African American women and 20 African American men worked hard to clear swampland and transform the land into the garden it is today.
