July Lecture: Exploring Greenbelt Reparations and Beyond

The Greenbelt Reparations Commission was created as the result of a City Council referendum. The group has been meeting monthly since 2023. Since that time, the commission has conducted interviews, tabled at community events, held town halls, worked with researchers and more to identify harms to Greenbelt’s Native Americans and African Americans and to propose possible remedies. On Thursday, July 23 at 7pm, hear about the work of the commission and next steps from Chair, Dr. Lois Rosado and Commissioner, Denise Nadasen.

I appreciated learning about the commission’s ongoing work, especially how they’re combining interviews, town halls, and research to address harms to both Native American and African American communities in Greenbelt. That kind of thorough, community-based approach seems crucial for real reparative action. By the way, I keep a free planning and optimization tool I like to share https://satisfactorycalculator.net/
