Black History Month #21 - Newspaper Documents Discussion of Racism in Greenbelt in 1939

In the November 16, 1939, issue of the Greenbelt Cooperator, a short editorial statement appeared (see above). The statement was referencing heated exchanges at a recent meetings over occasional Black visitors to Greenbelt. In one instance, citizen asked the candidates running for seats on the Cooperative Organizing Committee (a citizen's association formed to help with management of the coops in Greenbelt) what their opinions were of barring "Negroes" from Greenbelt stores. This editorial was the Cooperator's response. Donald Cooper was the editor at the time.
