Halloween

Halloween is "spooktacular" at the Greenbelt Museum Historic House! This means vintage Halloween decorations, including vintage candy boxes, masks and costumes, displayed in the house. Many of the decoration displayed in the house are based upon Director Megan Searing Young's research proving that they are similar to the kinds that Greenbelters would have used.

 

Halloween was a big holiday for children in Greenbelt. There was a big parade in the center of town (like the one in the c.1945 photo below) and by the end of the night, they had pillowcases full of candy.
